Semmelmann Transporte
Picture: Parcel Service

When you start work, we will train you. The training period takes about two weeks. During this time you will be driving with an experienced driver who will explain the work to you in German or English. In the process, you will learn important German phrases. You will also learn to operate the hand-held computer, the various delivery instructions and the main roads and companies that receive regular deliveries.

When you arrive here, you should have enough money to cover living expenses for 10 days. From then on you will receive a subsistence allowance of € 50 per week. If you come in your own vehicle, you can refuel after one week. The costs will be deducted from your salary. After arrival, you won’t need to make advance payments for anything.

At the end of the training period, you should be able to sort, load and drive a round alone. As you will still be quite slow, you will drive half a round at first. You will gradually drive more and more so that approx. four weeks later you will be able to drive a full round alone. You will take around two hours longer than in the training period, but after another four weeks of routine you will only need the normal amount of time. This will be a very difficult time for you.

Working as a parcel courier is hard and demanding. If you are not in good shape, you will have sore muscles in the first three weeks.

A working day is broken down as follows: You will need around two hours for processing in the morning (sorting and scanning parcels, loading vehicle, etc.). Then you will drive for approx. 45 minutes to the target area. Your job will be to deliver around 180 parcels to 100 different customers. Once you are fit and have mastered the round, you will need around six hours for this work. Then you will collect the parcels that are to be sent by customers. This will take around half an hour. You then drive back to the depot. You will hand in the vehicle keys there and it’s time to go home. When you add in the statutory breaks and your journey to and from work, you may be on the road for 12 or even 13 hours a day. You will be working a 5-day week. You will have a free day on Sundays and public holidays and on one other day in the week.

If you satisfy the requirements above, your net earnings including expenses and allowances will be 1,850 euros per month for tax bracket I (single), or 2,000 euros per month for tax bracket III (married and your spouse is in Germany and not working). Please note that you will only earn this money if you drive the round in full, correctly and without any accidents. When you are driving the round alone in the initial phase, but cannot yet drive the complete round, your earnings will be between € 1,200 and € 1,500 net per month. Salaries will always be calculated and paid by the 20th day of the following month.

We would also be delighted if you decide to bring your family over. We will then help you to find suitable accommodation. Net earnings rise to € 2,000 for married people because you are in tax bracket III. We also have work a opportunity for your spouse in the hours between 5 and around 7.15 in the morning. Gross earnings would be € 500, which is around € 470 net.

If you want to drive a car of your own, we will be happy to rent a vehicle to you for € 200 per month. This includes the vehicle rent, insurance, taxes and repairs. You only need to pay the fuel costs.

If you believe that you are suited to this job, we would be delighted to welcome you here.
